Monozygotic
An interactive LED installation that uses the presence of visitors to seed oscillators in a simulation of Conway's Game of Life distributed across LED panels. The first prototype at the IA Lab Project Fair uses a programmed spotlight with the following modes: pulsing in a stationary position above the visitor, cycling between pointing at the panels to direct the visitor's attention.
Software: openFrameworks, Arduino, Processing
Materials: LED panels, custom acrylic enclosures, custom steel poles, DMX moving head spotlight, infrared camera

The second prototype exhibited at the Barbican Prototypes In Public exhibition used a camera mounted from above and used frame differencing to detect people standing nearby each pole. When a person is detected next to a pole, an octagon oscillator pattern is triggered and interacts with the cells on the other poles on a single interactive grid which is split between all 6 poles.
